If you have some questions about how to get started with AdSense or the payment cycle for Adsense, Google AdSense Support has some video demos that address these issues.

The video is easy to navigate around by picking and choosing topics that are listed in the navigation on the left of the video screen.  You don't have to listen to the whole demonstration to get to a section you want to see.
