Chitika News Reports Chitika Text Ads Just a Rumor

Chitika News just posted an e-mail response from Chitika about the rumored Text Ads that look remarkably like Google ads.  Turns out it's just a rumor, and a leftover from another product that Chitika offered previously - and says they will no longer support.

Guess we are all just used to hearing rumors about Google and Yahoo that, for the most part, turn out to be true later.

Code to Rotate Your Chitika Products Daily

If you want to have a selection of products on your pages, but are using the Chitika code to specify products by keywords, you can rotate the products you offer by the day of the week.  Amitpatel_3001 wrote it out on the Chitika tips forums, and it can come in handy.  This code can help any changes in your weekly traffic vs. weekend traffic to better target your users according to their focus.

Post this code just before your Chitika code and replace the keywords in it with keywords of your choice. Chitika will now serve ads based on day of the week keywords you've specified

Yahoo YPN Beta inside info

Out of the Office but I wanted to make sure you got to read about the YPN beta (heard only 2000 publishers are invited right now).   JenSense has the inside info and I'll expand on this topic soon.

Yahoo Publisher's Network - Is it coming soon for real?

Is Yahoo Publisher Network coming?  The conversations and rumors are flying, including a post by JenSense that Yahoo will be sending someone to talk about contextual advertising at the San Jose SES, the first week of August (obviously a fact).

We all hope YPN will be worth the wait, and I fully expect it will be similar, but different from AdSense, much like Overture is similar, but different from AdWords. We know that according to Google AdSense Policies, we won't be able to use both networks on the same site.  However, a new, big player in Contextual Advertising is certainly welcome as many webmasters hate putting _all_ their eggs in the AdSense basket.

Results from Using Cash Keywords Mega Report - TW Giveaway Recap

When we launched Cash Keywords back in January, we unveiled our products on Threadwatch _for free_ thanks to Nick W giving us a shot.  We offered Threadwatch members only a free Mega or other report, and one of the taker's GrayWolf took us up on a free report and now 6 months later, here's his recap on results from using our data.  Nick has posted a CK giveaway follow up on Threadwatch as well, with additional comments listed.

No Adsense Ads on Our Blog

Just wanted to mention (in case you wondered) we are not using AdSense Ads on this blog.  Our reason is to keep the focus on the posts, and really it would end up in a bunch of "AdSense" related ads anyway, if we included AdSense on these page.  We do have a few sponsored outgoing links from the blog, but we don't have any official advertising in place (and no plans to right now).  Our goal is to continue to provide a useful resource for AdSense publishers and our customers as well.  Enjoy! Adsense and Affiliate Products Mixed on the Same Page - Will that Make You More Money?

While many AdSense Publishers are webmasters with content sites and blogs, a good percentage of AdSense Publishers also promote Affiliate programs - whether retail products, e-books or services.  But say you have a site with retail products using affiliate links, will putting Adsense on the same pages have a bad effect on your Affiliate CTR?

Because of the variations for each website, there isn't a blanket answer, but the general consensus from webmasters with websites that include a diverse number of products - AdSense on Affiliate product pages can actually _help_ increase revenues.  In fact, many report that adding AdSense to their product pages has not caused a drop in affiliate link CTR or commissions.

In my case, I have a few pages with both AdSense and affiliate links, and find this combination to be the best of both (either way I will get a click from the user about 70% of the time).  In fact, my affiliate commissions remain about the same as before adding in AdSense, and I actually make 5-6X more money from the Adsense Ads on those pages.  I made the pages originally to promote the affiliate program and ironically the Affiliate program commissions are gravy compared to the AdSense revenue.
